Translink Grandpianist Winner

We are beyond thrilled to share some fantastic news from the Northern Ireland music scene—our very own student, Trevor (10 years old), has emerged as the winner of the prestigious Translink Grand Pianist Competition!

This remarkable competition, which took place over the summer, saw a concert piano travel to five different rail and bus stations across Northern Ireland. The roadshow provided a platform for over 100 talented amateur pianists to showcase their skills at regional heats held in Lanyon Place (Belfast), Newry Bus Station, North-West Transport Hub (Derry-Londonderry), Bangor, and Coleraine train stations. From this impressive talent pool, only 12 finalists were selected to perform in the grand finale at the brand-new Belfast Transport Hub.

Trevor’s journey to victory began at Bangor train station, where his performance captivated both passersby and judges alike. His dedication, artistry, and sheer passion for music shone through, securing him a coveted spot in the final showdown. Competing against an exceptional lineup of musicians, Trevor delivered a breathtaking performance that earned him the top prize.

Winning this competition is an outstanding achievement, reflecting Trevor’s hard work, talent, and musicality. We are incredibly proud of him and can’t wait to see where this success takes him next. His accomplishment is also a testament to the power of public music initiatives like the Translink Grand Pianist Competition, which celebrate and nurture local talent by bringing music to unexpected places.

Congratulations, Trevor! We are so proud of you!
